Message from the President
Zhejiang University of Media and Communications is a highly professional institution of higher education in China in the field of media and communications. The University was born 30 years ago when China reached out to embrace the world. The majority of our graduates would work for media organizations such as radio and TV, newspapers and magazines, advertising companies and film producers, etc. In recent years, strategic steps have been taken to open up international channels for academic activities such as teaching, researches, cross-continental conferences and jointly conducted programs. We have established firm and constructive relations with a number of overseas universities in the area of student degree programs, teacher training and degree programs and joint research projects. Zhejiang University of Media and Communication (ZUMC) shall make constant endeavor to provide the best learning and teaching environment for both domestic and international students and scholars. Recent years of rapid development is marked by constructive cooperation with many overseas partners. This has brought about new ideas and modes of management and in particular, a broad space for teaching and research and has provided our students with wider choices upon entering and graduating from our university. Zhejiang University of Media and Communications is a forward-looking, modern university with an outstanding reputation as a provider of education and training in TV, film and other media. Much has changed since 1984 when the University was first established, and we have made great strides in our development as an institution --- particularly over the last ten years. Zhejiang University of Media and Communications is situated in Hangzhou , the capital city of Zhejiang Province , known to the Chinese people as “ Paradise on Earth”. The University provides excellent resources to assist our students in their studies. The University multi-functional library has a collection of approximately 650,000 books on various subjects, over 20,000 CDs, tapes and cassettes of audio-visual materials for teaching and learning. The University is also well equipped with advanced teaching and experimental facilities that create and guarantee our students a professionally efficient and people-friendly learning environment. The 40 labs range from virtual broadcasting labs, non-linear editing labs, audio-video labs to MIDI Production labs. The newly completed 22-storey multi-functional Media Tower , at an investment of over 130 million RMB, houses 17 broadcasting studios of various sizes and has become now a production base for broadcasting programmes, teaching/research activities and social service.
