Applicants for degree programs shall provide:
A satisfactory HSK report, both the original one and the copy.
- Take part in the entrance examinations given by the school he or she applies for (The exams will be given when the students arrive in YNAI). Candidate will be enrolled for degree programs only when he/she passes the entrance examinations.
- Applicants for degrees shall also provide the following documents:
a.A copy of your Graduation Certificate of your highest education and a Chinese or English translation, both of which should be signed by an authorized officer.
b.A School Report from a high school or a university sealed or signed by an authorized officer. If the report is not in Chinese or English, a notarized translation is required.
c.A Health Certificate for Foreigners (contact the COIAE for more information).
d.Pictures of your previous artworks or records, or videos are not required but recommended in your application.
e.A letter of recommendation by an expert in the specific field you apply for.
f.A study plan of all the academic years.
- The COIAE will submit all your documents to Yunnan Provincial Bureau of Education for permission. We will inform you to register in once we receive the response.

Candidates can apply around the year, no special requirements.
Non-degree Programs and Tuition Fees:
YNAI offers non-degree programs, which include long-term and short term Chinese language courses and art courses of all subjects.
As to the Chinese language courses, experienced teachers can offer individualized teaching according to each student's need. Lessons are given in small class of no more than 10 students. If you want, a one-on-one program is always available for both the language and art courses. We can offer interpreters for art courses, too. The minimum time of study in a week for both long-term and short-term Chinese lessons is 8 class-hours, while 4 class-hours is the minimum requirement for art lessons.
There are all kinds of extracurricular activities in YNAI and they are very interesting. They vary from in-province culture tour and study, school visits to academic internship and language exchange programs, etc.

How to apply

Candidates for degree programs shall apply to the COIAE three months before the beginning of each semester (1st of March for the spring semester and 1st of September for the fall semester). Candidates for non-degree programs can apply around the year. To start with, an applicant can download the Application Form for International Applicants for Yunnan Arts Institute from http://www.ynart.edu.cn, and then, email the completed form to the COIAE of YNAI at faoyai_yn@yahoo.com.cn. You will also have to remit the300RMB registration fee to the school's bank account (please contact us for more information). You may, and we also recommend you, come to hand in all application form and pay the fee to the Office directly, during the working period. We will process the application as soon as we receive all the documents and the registration fee. You are responsible for the authenticity and accuracy of all the information provided in your documents.

The COIAE will examine your eligibility by your application form. Once the application is accepted, you will receive a JW202 form and an Admission Letter. Please finish the form and mail it back to the COIAE for permission by Yunnan Provincial Educational Bureau and Yunnan Foreign Affairs office. We will return the sealed form back to you for your application for an X Visa to a Chinese embassy or Consulate. A clean physical exam report may also be required. Of course, you can also come to us with an L Visa of 15 days before your Visa expires and we will help you apply for a Student Resident Permit, which allows a multiple entry off and into China.
To transit an L Visa to a Student Resident Permit, you need to provides:
a. Valid passport and an L Visa,
b. 4 visa photos,
c. A physical exam report (for more than half-year application only),
d. Residence Registration Certificate (issued by the local security bureau).
Registration Steps
Come to the COIAE----check the Passport, the Offer of Enrolment,and the validity of your visa----submit your residence at a hotel certified to host foreign visitors or at the public security office of the region you stay----sign a student agreement----pay registration fee (if you come with an L visa) and tuitions----provide the COIAE with your passport, four visa photos, Residence Registration Certificate by the Public Security Bureau, a clean physical examination report----prepare study tools and buy textbooks----register for the library, internet card and Campus Smart Card---- map out your study schedule.
Relevant Information

Yunnan Arts Institute is about 13km from Kunming International Airport. It takes about 40min and costs about 40RMB by taxi. The COIAE (Center of International Art Exchange) is in the main campus. If you cannot find the office, please call at 6249126. The Hotel around the campus is about 5 to 15 minutes by walk (a preceding reservation is recommended).

If this is your first time to come to Kunming, you need to register at least 20 days before your study begins.

We suggest the international student to buy a traveling insurance and health insurance during the time of study in China.

Please bring your Passport, the Admission Letter, Visa Application Form (JW202 Form), four passport photos, Residence Registration Certificate,and Physical Examination Report when you register at the Center of International Art Exchange of Yunnan Arts Institute.

For those who are to work for a diploma of B.A., a certificate of HSK Band 6 is required; for those who want to work for a M.A. a certificate of HSK Band 8 is required.
