Introduction of SDUT

Shandong University of Technology (SDUT) was founded in 1956 and covers an area of 240 hectares. The university is located in the cradle of the Ancient Qi Culture—Zibo City, Shandong Province, which is now an important modern industrial city. The transportation in Zibo is very convenient. It takes about one hour to drive by car from Zibo to Mount Tai, the famous mountain in China. Furthermore it takes about 2.5 hours by car to go from Zibo to Qufu, the birthplace and former residence of Confucius. Lastly, Qingdao – the costal city is about 2.5 hours drive from Zibo.

Shandong University of Technonlogy is one of the 16 universites in Shandong Province to offer Shandong Provincial Government Scholarship for international students. SDUT offers 73 undergraduate programs, 95 master’s degree conferring programs and three programs to confer doctorates, which are Agricultural Engineering, Mechanical Engineering and Chemical Engineering & Technology. The programs cover eight fields of learning, which are engineering, science, economics, management, literature, law, history and pedagogy, forming a layout emphasizing engineering, and ensuring coordinated development of all the specialties. The disciplines like Machine design, manufacturing & automation, Vehicle engineering, Electrical engineering & automation, Thermal energy & power engineering, Civil engineering, Finance, International economy & trade, Economics, and Chinese language and literature etc. are among the top of the universities in Shandong Province and maintain strong international influence. The library contains a collection of 4.65 million volumes of books (of which 2.1 million volumes are electronic) and 26,971 types of journals in both Chinese and foreign languages. The university presently has 22 schools, with a total enrollment of over 34,000 full-time students. SDUT has strong and professional faculty forces, including 849 professors and associate professors.

SDUT sticks to the principle of being open to the outside world, which enhances international exchange and cooperation. It has established friendly and cooperative relationships with over 30 institutions of higher education in the U.S.A., UK, South Korea, Russia, Australia New Zealand, and others. SDUT also strives to develop international education and has had altogether around 1,500 international students from South Korea, Russia, U.S.A., Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, Turkey, Ukraine, and others.
