Chinese Government Scholarship for Postgraduate Students

In order to increase the cooperation and understanding between the people of China and other countries, develop outstanding international talent,South China University of Technology (SCUT) will provide 40 full scholarship for full-time postgraduate studies under the Chinese government scholarship program.

I.ELIGIBILITY

1.Applicants must be non-Chinese nationalsand be in good health.
2.Education background and age limit:
a.Applicants studying to earn a Master’s degree must have a Bachelor’s degree and be under the age of 35.
b.Applicants studying to earn a Doctorate degree must have a Master’s degree and be under the age of 40.

II.DETAILS OF THE SCHOLARSHIP (FULL SCHOLARSHIP)

1.Exempt from registration fee, tuition, fee for laboratory experiment, fee for internship, fee for basic learning materials and accommodation;
2.Monthly Living allowance:- Master’s degree students: CNY 1,700- Doctorate degree students: CNY 2,000
3.Fee for outpatient medical service, Comprehensive Medical Insurance and Benefit Plan for International Students in China;
4.A one-off settlement subsidy

III.IMPORTANT DATES

1.Application Deadline: 20th March
2.By May, successful applicants will be shortlisted and published on the website: www.scut.edu.cn/sie/english
3.By the end of June, the Recruitment and Admission Office will send the Admission Notice and Visa application form (JW201) to successful applicants.

IV.APPLICATION MATERIALS

The applicants must first apply on the website: http://laihua.csc.edu.cn/. After completing the application form, please print two copies of the application , and submit it together with the following materials truly and correctly.
1.Highest diploma (notarized photocopy).
2.Applicants studying to earn their Master’s or Doctorate degree need to provide relevant notarized transcripts.
3.A study or research plan in Chinese or in English (no less than 500 words).
4.Applicants must submit two reference letters in Chinese or English from professors or associate professors.
5.Applicants for music are requested to submit one cassette recording of the applicant’s own work. Applicants for fine arts must submit six color photographs of personal works (two sketches, two color paintings and two other works).
6.Photocopy of Foreigner Physical Examination Form , which must be completed in English.Note:* Agency No: 10561* All documents mentioned should be in either Chinese or English.

SCUT International Scholarship for Excellence

South China University of Technology(SCUT) offers the International Scholarship for Excellence to outstanding students who will matriculate into degree programs as full-time students. Selected students will receive a full or partial exemption from tuition fees and registration fees for the normal duration of the degree. The level of benefits depends upon the applicant’s academic excellence in previous academic achievements. 

Ⅰ. ELIGIBILITY

1. Applicants must be non-Chinese nationals and be in good health.
2. Education background and age limit: - Applicants studying to earn a Bachelor’s degree must have high school diploma and be under the age of 30.- Applicants studying to earn a Master’s degree must have a Bachelor’s degree and be under the age of 35. - Applicants studying to earn a Doctorate degree must have a Master‘s degree and be under the age of 40.

3. By early July, the Admission Office will send the Admission Notice and Visa application form (JW202) to successful applicants.

3. A study or research plan in Chinese or in English (postgraduate applicants only, no less than 500 words).
4. Two reference letters in Chinese or English from previous professors or associate professors (postgraduate applicants only).

V. EVALUATION FOR RETENTION

Scholarship holders should attend the annual evaluation organized in each May. Those who are in good standing and have fulfilled the annual evaluation requirement can maintain the scholarship for the next academic year. Those who fail to reach the above requirements will be transferred to the status of self-funding students, but can attend the next evaluation to apply for the scholarship in the next academic year.

CONFUCIUS INSTITUTE SCHOLARSHIP FOR STUDENTS STUDYING AT SCUT

  In order to support the development of Confucius Institutes, facilitate Chinese language promotion and Chinese cultural transmission in the world, cultivate qualified Chinese language teachers and talented students of Chinese language, Hanban/Confucius Institute Headquarters (hereinafter referred to as Hanban) launches the “Confucius Institute Scholarship” program to provide financial aid for students, scholars and Chinese language teachers worldwide to study Chinese language,culture and other pertinent courses in China. SCUT has been appointed by Hanban/Confucius institute Headquarters to recruit outstanding students for the following programs.

I. Application Requirement

Applicants shall be non-Chinese citizens aged between 16 and 35,and in good health.

II. Scholarship Category

Scholarship for One-Semester Students
Scholarship for One-Academic Year Students.

III. Scholarship Coverage and Criteria

Exempt from registration fee, tuition, fees for basic learning materials, and accommodation fees on campus.
Monthly living allowance: one-semester or one-academic year study: CNY 1,400;
One-off settlement subsidy:
--Students studying in China for one-semester: CNY 1,000;
--Students studying in China for one-academic year or more: CNY 1,500;
Comprehensive Medical Insurance.

General Chinese Language program, Chinese as a Foreign Language (Teaching Chinese as a Foreign Language, Chinese Language &Communications, Chinese for Business & Trade, Chinese for Tourism), Communication, Education, Literature, History, etc.

V. Important Dates

Application Deadline: 20th, May
Successful applicants will be shortlisted and the results will be submitted to Hanban for final approval by 15th June.
The results will be publicized on the website of SIE in early July;
The admission Office will send the Admission Letter, JW201 Form and other related materials to the successful applicants in early July.

VI. Application Documents

Applicants should log on to the Confucius Institute Scholarship website at http://cis.chinese.cn, set up an individual account, read information and introduction of host institutes and majors, complete and submit the Confucius Institute Scholarship Application Form online, print out the Form and submit their documents along with other application materials:

Application Statement: stating applicant's Chinese language learning background, study plan and aim in China. It shall be written in Chinese and no less than 800 words.
Photocopy of New HSK Result Report
Diploma and Transcripts. Applicants shall submit notarized highest education diplomas attained or proof of study.
Reference Letter and Letter of Commitment. Students attending Chinese language programs of universities in countries with no Confucius Institutes established shall attach a reference letter signed and issued by the university President.
Applications under the age of 18 shall submit relevant legal documents of entrusted legal guardians in China.
Winners of the finals of the “Chinese Bridge” Chinese Proficiency Competitions for Foreign College Students and for Foreign High School Students in China shall submit the duplicate of scholarship certificate and reference letter provided by educational and cultural offices (sections) of Chinese embassies (consulates). Winners of preliminary rounds of the “Chinese Bridge” Proficiency Competitions in their countries shall provide award proof and reference letter provided by the organizers.
Chinese language teachers shall submit the proof on number of teaching years and weekly teaching hours provided by institutes they work for.
Students who will study for more than 6 months in China are required to submit "Physical Examination Record for Foreigners".
