Communication University of China (CUC), an affiliate of the State Ministry of Education, in the name list of Project 211, is one of the national-level major universities in China that enjoys high prestige. It is intensely engaged in a broad-spectrum of higher learning in the education of talents for the mass media of radio and television broadcasting, filmmaking, Internet communication, paper and publications in China alongside its advanced in-depth scientific researches in the related fields. CUC ranks among the highest of educational institutions on communications in the country.
Founded in March 1954, CUC has successively developed into a comprehensive university, which focuses on teaching and research, with the harmonious combination of literature, engineering, arts, management, science, economy, law and education. The university has established multi-layer and multi-standard talents fostering system, which includes Ph. D programs, Master's degree programs, Bachelor's degree programs, higher vocational education programs and continuing education programs and so on. CUC now has established 13 schools, and 1 adult education center. The total number of full time students in CUC is more than 15,000, among which there are master and doctoral candidates. CUC, by cooperation, has also established an independent college, Nanguang College, in Nanjing, providing undergraduate programs. The total floor space of buildings accounts for 500,000 square meters and the whole coverage of campus is around 470,000 square meters. CUC enjoys the leading position in the field of broadcasting and television researches in China. With higher education globalization, CUC is actively developing international exchanges and cooperation, and expanding cooperation fields and channels. CUC has established exchanging and collaborative relationships with over 200 universities and media organizations in about 50 countries and areas in five Continents, and has reached 130 agreements with 119 universities and organizations. CUC not only is the regular member of CILECT (Centre International de Liaison des Ecoles de Cinema et de Television), but the Chair of UNESCO-CUC Media & Gender, and has set a number of academic institutes, including Asia Media Research Center, Europe Media Research Center. CUC has been deepening the cooperation and exchanges in the field of faculty exchange, student exchange, scientific cooperation and international conference. Meanwhile, CUC works with Edmonton Public Schools to co-establish Confucius Institute in Alberta, Canada. In 2008, CUC is fully dedicated to Beijing Olympic Games. CUC has provided almost 3,000 volunteers for Media operations, television broadcasting, sports exhibition, and etc. Hence, among universities in China, CUC sent the largest number of volunteers for Olympics. CUC provides guidance and logistics service for these volunteers. Besides that, CUC has also organized various activities relating to Olympics. CUC will accomplish its Olympics tasks and devote to the success of Beijing Olympic Games.
