Beijing Information Technology or BITC for short was founded in 1954. In July 1999 the Ministry of Education of China (MOE) approved BITC as a higher vocational technology collage. BITC was one among the first "35 Models of Software Vocational Technology Colleges" approved by MOE; "Colleges for Computer Applied and Software Technicians"; "Training Base of Electronic Information Technicians" approved and issued by Ministry of Human Resources and Social Security of China together with Ministry of Information Industry. BITC belongs to Beijing Electronics Holding Co. Ltd. It is one of the "Excellent Vocational Education Colleges" and "Advanced Higher Educational Institutions for Graduates Employment".

The college has three campuses now. The headquarter is located in Jiuxianqiao Electronic Area; The eastern campus is located in Dongba, Chaoyang district; The southern campus is located in Huaxiang, Fengtai district. The faculty number is 530, including full-time and part-time teachers, among them 10 have got academic professor or above titles and 35 % of the full time teaching staff have got the associate professor titles, 42% of them have got master degrees or above.

There are 9 departments and 1 center and they are Software Dept. Information Engineering Dept., Electronics Engineering, Mechatronic Dept., Software Engineering Dept., Computer Engineering Dept., Automotive Engineering Dept., Digital Media and Art Dept., Foreign Language Dept. and Common Ability Development Centre.

BITC has international educational cooperation with Christchurch Polytechnic Institute of Technology of New Zealand, the University of New England of Australia, the Northern Melbourne of Institute of TAFE (NMIT) and STOCK Institute of UK. Nanyang Polytechnic Institute of Singapore, (NYP for short) has signed an agreement with BITC on "Students Overseas Research Base",and we have received over 360 NYP students to study at BITC. In 2008 the Beijing Municipal Commission of Education has accredited that BITC are qualified to enroll international students.

BITC offers the international students with on-campus accommodation. These rooms are equipped with air-conditioners and furnished with a desk, chair, desk lamp, wardrobe, internet access, private bathroom, public kitchen and public laundry room.

BITC provide the international students with a variety of school facilities like library, labs, football pitch, basketball court, tennis court, table-tennis gym and fitness center.
