Introduction The Sino-British College, Shanghai (SBC) became a fully licensed university college on September 1st, 2006. SBC currently has close to 1,500 full-time Chinese students and plans a major intake of international students next year. Undergraduate programmes are taught entirely in the English language by a highly qualified international team and programmes are available across the whole spectrum of Business and Engineering. Graduates are awarded degrees from one of the partner British institutions. The costs of tuition and living mean that internationally recognized UK Bachelors degrees taught entirely in English are now obtainable in Shanghai at a significantly reduced cost compared to the same degree offered in the UK. SBC is the only higher education institution to be awarded a license to offer full degree programmes to multiple overseas universities (the so-called "1 to N Model"), either taught entirely at the Shanghai campus, or with a period of study abroad. The attraction of the multiple study pathway options is that during the first and second years of study at SBC, students have greater flexibility to identify and choose which of the various programmes and which British universities will be best suited to their abilities and future career aspirations. |
