Introduction

The High School Affiliated to Renmin University of China (Commonly known in China as Renda Fuzhong, abbreviated to RDFZ) is not only a key school Affiliated to the Ministry of Education but also among one of the first beacon high schools accredited by Beijing Municipal Government.It has a garden-style campus with sufficient facilities. Over the past 20 years, RDFZ has made tremendous progress and is now enjoying a high reputation both in China and abroad. It is the major source of recruitment for China’s such well-known universities as Tsinghua University, Beijing University as well as Renmin University of China. In recent years, the number of graduates who have been admitted each year into Beijing University and Tsinghua University has been increasing. In the year 2005, there were 154 graduates admitted into Beijing and Tsinghua Universities; in 2006, 217 graduates and in 2007, 196 graduates. The number increased to 220 and 227 respectively in the years of 2008 and 2009. In addition, many other students have been admitted into Harvard University, Yale University, Cambridge University, Oxford University, and Hong Kong University from 2005 to 2009.

RDFZ has trained many students with high academic achievements, outstanding all-rounded development, innovative spirit and practical ability. Approved by Beijing Municipal Government, the International Section of RDFZ started to recruit foreign students in 2002. Currently there are nearly 200 foreign students from 24 countries at RDFZ, who are studying together with the Chinese students.

The International Section of RDFZ offers the foreign students with 2 forms of learning, one is the Language Training Course, and the other is the Regular Course (join in the Chinese student’s class).

Foreign students and Chinese students in our school live and study together, and they are divided into nearly 30 classes from grade 7 to grade 12. Further more, to satisfy the special needs of the foreign students, the International Section of RDFZ also arranges additional lessons for them to strengthen their learning in Chinese language and other subjects, so that they can enjoy the high-quality educational resources with the Chinese students at RDFZ.

When the International Section was established in 2002, we proposed the training objectives as “overall development + special skills + innovation + morality”. From then on, we have been creating a form of education to suit every student. In the teaching of foreign students, we set the appropriate courses by combining the teaching plan for Chinese students with the characteristics of the foreign students. In addition, RDFZ provides more than 150 elective courses, from which the foreign students can choose according to their interests and capability.

The achievements of foreign students of our school are excellent. From 2005 to 2009, 84.6% of the graduates have been admitted into Beijing University, Tsinghua University and Renmin University. The rest of the graduates have also been admitted into the key universities both in China and abroad, including University of Tokyo, Melbourne University and so on.

The International Section has established a set of complete and suitable management system for foreign students. In such a humane management system, each foreign student can enjoy better education and access to comprehensive development. We are confident that their life in the RDFZ will be unforgettable.
