The HighSchool Attached to Northwest Normal University was founded in 1901, which was called “Beijing Wucheng School” and moved west to set up a new school in 1937. It is among the first batch of Demonstration High Schools of Gansu Province. The school is located at the north shore of the Yellow River, in Anning District, Lanzhou City, Gansu Province, which is in the Northwest part of China. The transportation is convenient, the facilities are advance and the schoolyard is quiet and tastefully laid out.

There are 2500 students and more than 180 teachers found in the school campus. A great number of excellent students have been fostered since the school was established, including Hong lie Sun, who is the representative of academicians both in the Chinese and International Academy of Sciences, the Chinese and International Academy of Engineering in the world. Our schoolfellows are spread all over the world.

In recent years, the school especially values international exchanges and cooperation and successively organizes teachers and students to go abroad to carry on the education interview, the short or medium training and cultural exchanges, etc. The school is appointed as a “High School Base Popularizing Chinese Language” by the “Office Of Chinese Language Council International”.( The Office Of Chinese Language Council International is under the leadership of the State Department. ) It is the base for foreign students to learn Chinese Language. The base can also help the foreign high schools to set up the Chinese language courses and accept the Chinese language teachers training. The teaching facilities in " Base" are advanced. The school has the abilities and conditions of recruiting the foreign students, so the school has recruited the international high school students of Chinese language since March of 2007.The base can provide the board and lodging. The restaurant in the school provides all kinds of nourishing meals for the international students.
