It has been long a tradition in Lizhou  to hold a tea party for the returned overseas Chinese to welcome the coming of the  Chinese new year together. On January 23, 2013, the tea party was held in Liuzhou Hotel. Vice Mayor Chen Jie of the Municipal People's Government, and the representatives from the Municipal People 's Congress, Foreign Affairs Office, China Zhi Gong Party attended the tea party, whilst, 260 returned overseas Chinese and LCVC international student representatives were invited to participate.

Chen Jie, the vice mayor of Liuzhou, delivered a speech on behalf of the municipal government to extend holiday wishes to the guests of tea party, expressed sincere greetings to the city's 200 thousands returned overseas Chinese. Liuzhou Overseas Alumni Association and returned overseas Chinese artists from Luzhai County presented an exotic and magnificent performance. LCVC international students enjoyed the tea party, as well as the Chinese tradition.
