In order to promote further Chinese teaching and cultural activities by Confucius Institute deeper into academic study, Confucius Institute at Mickiewicz University has carried out a wide range of lecture and seminar series on Chinese culture, depending on the advantage of native teachers of Chinese. On March this year, as the usual cases in the past years, Confucius Institute at Mickiewicz University started programs of 2012 academic lecture series on Chinese culture.

Particular cultural phenomenon in particular period of Chinese history, Chinese traditional Peking Opera art and puppet shadow play of local features will be involved at the 2012 academic lecture series by Confucius Institute at Mickiewicz University.

The topic of the first academic lecture this year by Confucius Institute is "Beautiful Tears��Limitation of China Development". "It is said that gold lotus reflects Chinese history", said by Feng Jical, a renown Chinese writer. The lecture by Miss Kamila Wiatr drew the attention on foot-binding, envious and "bended feet with tears", a convention once existing in Chinese history, and gave analysis on the morbid aesthetic norms and patriarchal social structure in the feudal history of China, as well as the sufferings of Chinese women in the past and their liberation and promotion of their status, and the historical process of China from tradition to modern.

More than 50 students from Confucius Institute, faculty of sinology of Mickiewicz University and other colleges, students from Chinese classes at high schools and other people attended the lecture. They said the lecture series by Confucius Institute were very awarding in further understanding China, hoping Confucius Institute would give more and better such academic lectures.
