Confucius Institute at Mickiewicz University in Poland: Cultural Lecture on Chinese Garden Art

On Oct.11, 2011, Poland in golden season is surrounded by green trees, full of atmosphere of autumn everywhere. On the afternoon of the day, there were few visitors in the Botanical Garden of Mickiewicz University, which is as large as hundreds of mu with a collection of huge number of plants throughout the world, and bursts of redolence from trees and flowers at the gardenl with the gentle breeze could be smelled from time to time. Right now, a lecture on Chinese Garden Art was on at the lecture hall of the Exhibition Hall in the garden.

The lecturer is Miss Anna Brzezinska, a graduate from Department of Sinology of Mickiewicz University, majoring in Chinese Art and Architecture. Scores of teachers and students from Confucius Institute and from Department of Sinology and other people participated in the lecture.

Miss Anna Brzezinska had made full preparation for the lecture and she present Chinese garden art with typical oriental verve with rich relevant data and her detailed explanation.

The lecture started with Su Zhou garden art, known as the best of south of China, which is the best all over the world. A single grass and tree, a single hill and a stone, a single river and a scene, etc. are all embodying the notion of pursuit, advocate, and value nature, and with full advantage of nature, the gardens look simple, natural, non-caved. The scenes depend on water, with harmony of hills and rivers. The beautifulness and the notion of the beautifulness fascinated the audience of the lecture.

Then, Miss Anna Brzezinska continued to move her topic to the whole China from Summer Palace to Yuanming Yuan, from Beijing to Chengde, covering the beautiful gardens and garden art of China.

The audience were very much interested in the lecture and they put forward questions and questions, and Miss Anna Brzezinska gave explanation in detail patiently.

The topic of this lecture is Chinese art, and the lecture tried to bring those learning Chinese or interested in Chinese culture from a new perspective, which undoubtedly is a new way of promoting Chinese culture and cultural exchanges.
