High speed trains required to slow down after the train crash

According to the State Council and China's Ministry of Railways, high-speed trains are required to reduce their operating speed, considering the safety reasons after the train crash in July, which is the first slowdown of trains on a national scale since the year 1997. Meanwhile, a maintenance and overhaul of China's railway system is in progress, attaching much importance to safety management.

Coming after the train crash, in the long-term process of examination, besides overhaul, China railways will enhance the management of high-speed trains, offer professional training for railway staff and raise standard of equipments of high-speed trains. According to the authority of China's railways, China will not start to work on any new railway program until the finish of the examination and overhaul.

Announced by China's railway system, in the early stages, high-speed trains with the operating speed of over 350 km per hour will be slowed down to 300 km per hour, with the speed of 250 km per hour slowed down to 200 km per hour and with the speed of 200 km per hour slowed down to 160 km per hour. Simultaneously, ticket prices of high-speed trains will also be reduced to some extent.
