April.12, 2011, is a rare sunny spring day in Poland, when the long and well prepared China Day comes in University of Silesia. This is an unusual event, held by English College, University of Silesia, leader of Education Office of Chinese Embassy in Poznan and Chinese director of Confucius Institute at Mickiewicz University specially invited.

The modern, spacious and bright teaching building of English College was decorated with festival Chinese cultural elements. Hundreds of students from the university and other people gather at the China Day with great interest. Accompanied by leaders of Institute of English and Chen Jing and Bi Wei, Chinese teachers sent to teach here by Hanban, Liu Wansheng, leader of Education Office of Chinese Embassy in Poznan and Yang Jianhua, Chinese director of Confucius Institute at Mickiewicz University, come to China Day early and visit the colorful Chinese Exhibitions with curiosity.

China Day starts with Chinese national costume show. The students in different Chinese national costumes slide downstairs, feasting the eyes of the audience.

Then begin the Chinese performances. Gao Xia, the third place in Chinese Bridge Competition in Poland and thus visits China in 2010, serves as the hostess. Prof. Andrzej Lyda, director of Institute of English first looks back at his unforgettable experience in the training class for foreign teachers in China by Hanban organized by Confucius Institute at Mickiewicz University in 2010 in his speech, and on behalf of the rector of University of Silesia, expresses the wish to have a further cooperation with Tianjin University of Technology and the wish for Confucius Classroom in University of Silesia as soon as possible. Next, Prof. Rafal Molencki, dean of Philological Faculty, also looks back recalls the visit to China in the training class for foreign teachers by Hanban in 2010, and stresses again the strong wishes for cooperation with Tianjin University of Technology and Confucius Institute at Mickiewicz University and for the early establishment of Confucius Classroom in University of Silesia. Prof. Andrzej Lyda and Prof. Rafal Molencki committed themselves in the Chinese teaching and culture communication in University of Silesia and in Katowice, Poland. Their speeches are applauded warmly by the teachers and students, which is very moving. And the following performances including chorus, solo, Chinese ancient poem recital, dance, Shaoxing opera, short play, etc. cause climaxes in the audience at times.

After the performances, Liu Wansheng, leader of Education Office of Chinese Embassy in Poznan and Yang Jianhua, Chinese director of Confucius Institute at Mickiewicz University, have friendly talk with leaders of Institute of English, and during the talk the leaders of Institute of English, once again representing the rector who in participating in the European Union Higher Education Conference in Belgium, express the eager desire for the honest cooperation with Confucius Institute and for the establishment of Confucius Classroom. Liu Wansheng and Yang Jianhua show their full support to the hopes of University of Silesia to promote Chinese teaching and cultural exchanges, and say that they will try their best to help the completion of Confucius Classroom in University of Silesia.
