The Jenks School District is getting some new students.  They've come all the way from China.  A group of exchange students arrived at Tulsa International Airport Wednesday afternoon.  They were given a warm welcome by students and their host families. 

The students are taking part in an elaborate Chinese immersion program.  It's funded with federal grant money and covers grades 5 through 12.  The effort includes some native-Chinese teachers who are giving the students a global view of the world.

"We want to prepare them to know a lot about the culture and promote friendly relations with other parts of the world," says sponsor Nancy Pettus.  "Its important for them to know there's another place in this world besides Tulsa, Oklahoma."
