Foreign student program looking for a good home2010-6-29 12:21:00 From: thetowntalk.com
High School Exchange Program is seeking families in Louisiana to host exchange students from more than 30 countries including; France, Germany, Mexico, Spain, China, Japan, South Korea, Sweden, Poland and more. The students will arrive in August and stay either one semester or the whole school year.
There are over 150 students who are still not placed and are waiting for someone to choose them. We are in need of caring American families to provide a bed and meals as well as friendship, understanding and a genuine desire to share the American way of life with a young person from overseas. The students, who are between 15 and 18 years old, speak English and are covered by medical insurance. They also have ample spending money for clothing and other personal expenses. School will be starting in less than two months, says Sheila Stanton, the local exchange program coordinator for SHARE! There are preparations regarding school that have to be made in advance. The SHARE! High School Exchange program is sponsored by Educational Resource Development Trust. Families are able to review student applications and select the student they feel will best match their interests. We have many different religions represented also. Many are Catholic, Lutheran, Evangelical, Protestant and some have no religion. For more information, call Sheila Stanton, (318) 447-1765 or the Share Southwest Regional Office at 1-800-941-3738.
