KUALA LUMPUR, May 17 (Xinhua) -- Malaysian government will give yearly cash incentive between 900 ringgit (281 U.S. dollars) and 7, 500 ringgit (2343 U.S. dollars) for excellent performance teachers, a local daily reported on Monday.
Deputy Prime Minister of Malaysia Muhyiddin Yassin made the announcement after launching the national Teachers Day celebrations in Pahang state on Sunday, The Star said. According to the report, the top 5 percent of teachers would be given 1,800 ringgit (563 U.S. dollars) each in cash incentives while the rest would get 900 ringgit (281 U.S. dollars) . Muhyiddin Yassin,who is also Education Minister, told reporters that principals and headmasters who improved the ranking of their schools based on the school average grade and Malaysian Education Quality Standard would receive 7,500 (2343 U.S. dollars) in cash incentive.
