MANKATO - A group of New Ulm students participated in the 39th annual International Festival on Sunday, April 11, in Mankato. The event was hosted by Minnesota State University-Mankato and Mankato Public Schools. The festival offered exposure to cultural crafts, food from throughout the world and entertainment. Gautam Sarkar, a New Ulm resident, led a musical performance that included several New Ulm students, who had previously performed in Rochester. After the Rochester performance, a festival coordinator asked Gautam and the students to join the cultural acts at the International Festival in Mankato. Some of the children danced a traditional Indian dance while others sang an Eastern Indian song. The children were Gracelynn Sarkar, Katie Sarkar, Maya Sarkar, Daphne Monro, Jack Monro, Michelle Byro and Brianna Thedens. They have been asked to perform this weekend at an Indian festival in Minneapolis. Total:1 Page: 1
