International Exchanges and Cooperation
LCVC attaches great importance to international culture exchange and collaboration. By 2009, it has organized and sent 23 groups of teachers abroad to countries such as Australia, Thailand, Indonesia, Cambodia, Singapore, Malaysia and the Philippines for friendly visits and academic exchanges, and hosted 29 foreign delegates or groups from Australia, England, Thailand, Indonesia etc. Through mutual visits and exchanges, we have developed better understanding and cooperation with each other. The main forms of exchange and cooperation are as follows: Teacher placements We agree to send qualified teachers to teach Chinese in other countries. Over the past 5 years, we have sent 12 teachers to teach Chinese in the countries in the Southeast Asia. Student placements Since 2004, LCVC has sent 58 graduates to work, or worked as interns in Thailand, Indonesia, and the Philippines. From December 2007 to April 2008, 41 students majoring in Applied Thai went to Suan Dusit Rajabhat University in Bangkok to carry out a 5 month study program. Every year, we have a lot of students who want to study or work abroad.
Joint summer camps In association with foreign universities, elementary schools and educational institutes, from 2008 to 2009, LCVC has successfully held 5 summer camps for foreign students --- 2 for Thai students, 2 for Indonesian and 1 for American. During the 15-day camps, students learned Chinese, experienced Chinese culture (Chinese Kongfu, Taiji, calligraphy, paper-cut, Chinese tea ceremony), went traveling in some famous cities in China, and gained extraordinary experience of life. Other exchanges and cooperation Due to the increasingly important role of the Chinese language in Southeast Asian countries, LCVC sent Chinese teachers to teach Chinese in Southeast Asian countries as the breakthrough point. Consequently LCVC has developed other cooperation ways with schools or educational institutes in Southeast Asian countries. For example, our teachers have successfully compiled two volumes of Chinese textbooks with teachers in a Chinese School in Thailand. These activities have greatly promoted LCVC’s international cooperation and exchanges. We hope we can further develop international cooperation and exchange in more areas with more countries and institutions. |
