Founded in 1958, Kaili University was licensed by the Ministry of Education in February, 2006, to form a provincial university for full-time undergraduates. Currently, the campus covers an area of 112 hectares, with approximately 200,000 m² of new construction area. The total staff number is 692 , among whom 457 are full-time teachers, including 58 professors and 134 associate professors, 14 Ph.D. , 272 MA degree. The university now has 16 colleges, 10 education departments (or centers), 30 undergraduate majors (or directions), 21 Associate-degree majors and 1 pre-university program for national minorities are provided. Our students come from 18 provinces (municipalities and autonomous regions), with an open door for foreign students at the same time. Now there are 10230 full-time students in school.

Our school has deep traditions in fostering the growth of our students and community by preparing students for jobs in local elementary schools and by meeting the local community’s need for an educated workforce. Not only do we provide them with technical skills necessary for life. Our school, a part of the Guizhou Humannities and Social Sciences Association, founded “the Research Center for Original Ethnic Culture”. We established special, academic periodical on original ethnic culture, and published “Kaili University original ethnic cultural characteristics” a collection of ten volumes. We also carry out a training project to pass on ethnic culture and customs. We established an academic research paper called “The research and practice of original ethnic culture feature systems”. The paper received an award from the Guizhou Special Education Administration for excellent Teaching achievements. We succeeded in holding an academic debate, “The Anthropology and Ethnic Minority Culture Summit.” The purpose of our school focus on preserving, developing, and passing on ethnic folk culture teaching research and talent training project.
Since 1992, the university has been providing language programs to international students. Up to now, language trainings have been provided to hundreds of students from Kazakhstan, U.S., Britain, Germany, Australia, Canada、South Korea and India. Both long-term and short-term language programs are available in terms of Mandarin and minority languages like Hmong. The university has cooperated with Oakland University of U.S. by providing 3 summer-vacation English training programs to middle-school English teachers. Now the university has come to an agreement of exchange and cooperation programs with some foreign universities like Kyushu Ryukoku Junior of Japan, University Brunei Darussalam, and Thailand Sisaket Royal University.

Tutorials on theory per semester: 17 weeks.
Course Program and Credit Points
The total credit points required per academic year: 30 credits. Compulsory courses: 26 credits; Practicum:2 credits.
Tuition Fee
In accordance with the Standard of Fees for Self-Funded International Students in China [Jiaowailai No.7 (1998)] and under the circumstances of the University, courses can be divided into the following.
Short-term Course (one month): 4800 per person (accommodation included)
Short-term Course (three months): 6400 per person per semester
Long-term Course (one year): 6400 per person per semester
Private Tutoring: an extra one-third of the total tuition fee.
Completion of the Study
Those who meet the requirements of the courses will obtain a Certificate of Completion issued by the University.
