Liaoning Medical University (LMU), founded in 1946, is located in the city of Jinzhou in LiaoningProvince, five hours east of Beijing. During its development over the past 61years, the university has become a leading provincial university with its main educational focus
being on the medical sciences.
The campus covers an area of 975,000 square meters with a floor-space of 279,000square meters. There are well-equipped sport grounds, a gymnasium and a state of the art library. Six levels of education are offered at LMU: - general higher education, state-owned privately run education, adult education, vocational education, online education and international student education. The university accepts undergraduate, graduate, masters and postgraduate students.
The university comprises twelve teaching departments, ten provincial research centers, seven affiliated comprehensive hospitalsand one hundred and twenty-two outlets for teaching and practice. The curriculum comprises twenty-three specialized undergraduate subjects, thirty-two second levelmaster degree programs, two first level master degree programs and one doctorate degree program. There are three provincial key subjects, one provincial key laboratory and five provincial key medical specialties. The number of graduate students is approximately eight hundred whilst undergraduate students total about seven thousand.
Faculty members include two hundred and nineteen professors and chief doctors, five hundred and thirty-three associate professors, forty-five doctorate degree and two hundred and fifty-six master degree holders. One hundred and twenty faculty members have received their education and degrees abroad. More than one hundred teachers and researchers at the university have won the honor of ¡°excellent teacher and talented person for science and teaching¡± awarded by both national and local government. Seventeen members were winners of a ¡°special government allowance¡± and a further sixteen faculty members have been selected for the ¡°million talents¡± project by national and local government.
The number of student studying at the university totals 13,806 with approximately 140 being international students, all of whom are currently studying in the undergraduate program which is taught in the English language.
The university began to enroll overseas students in 1997 and since then the overseas student education programme has rapidly developed. The College of International Culture Exchangewas founded in the beginning of 2004. The college has enrolled overseas students from South Korea, Indian, Nepal and South Africa. In 2007 the College of International Culture Exchange changed its name to the ¡°College of International Education¡± which comprises Administration, Teaching Affairs andthe Centre for Teaching Chinese as a Second Language. Furthermore, the university is actively involved in international academic exchange programs with overseas universities such as the University of Glasgow in Scotland and regularly exchanges scholars and specialists to give lectures. To date over 100 teachers have been sent to more than 20 overseas countries to study and participate in select research programmes.

3. Further Study / Clinical Trainee
This course is designed for graduates from medical universities or for students currently studying at a medical university. In this course students will get the opportunity to obtain experience by practicing in an affiliated hospital of our university. They can be enrolled into every discipline prescribed for undergraduates and M.A disciplines.
4. Chinese Acupuncture and Moxibustion
The course lasts for two months and consists of an introductory course and an advanced course, each of which will last one month. In the introductory course students will acquire a general understanding of the basic theory of Traditional Chinese Medicine and a basic knowledge of the theoretical principles of acupuncture and Moxibustion. In the advanced course participants will be able to acquire knowledge about needling techniques, the application of specific points and the treatment of common diseases. They will get a more thorough understanding of traditional Chinese medicine and by the end of the course they will be able to locate and needle about 250 points and be able to treat about 20 common diseases.
5. Special Combined Course
This course gives students the possibility to choose two subjects in which they are interested in the most. Those two subjects will be taught during one month. The different subjects are: acupuncture, Chinese massage, Moxibustion, Tai Ji Quan and basic Chinese language.
6. Chinese Language Course
Our university offers two kinds of Chinese courses.
The first course is a long-term course consisting of three levels: beginners, intermediate and advanced. Each level can be completed in two terms. The minimum study period for this course is one term. The course addresses grammar, oral Chinese, and listening comprehension.
The second course is a training course for the HSK exams. These lessons will deal with specific knowledge students need to pass the HSK exams. The classes will prepare the students for the specific question types that will be asked on the HSK exams. The course will take 1 month, but can be extended in case the student wishes to do so.

Application Procedure:
1. Contact the International Office of LMU (cie@jzmu.edu.cn) or download the Application Form for overseas students from this website. (Application Form for Foreign Students of LiaoningMedicalUniversity)
2. Post the following to the International Office of LMU (address below): the application form, a passport photo (3cm ¡Á 5cm), a copy of your passport (the bio page showing photo, name and passport number) and the documents required for your specific course. (See table above).
3. After receiving the above documents, LMU will send the applicant a JW202 form (Visa Application for Study in China), an admission letter and detailed information about the tuition fee.
4. With the JW202 form, admission letter, passport and other required documents, the applicant will be able to go to the Chinese Embassy or Consulate in his /her country to apply for the ¡°X¡± visa (Student Visa)
3. Arrival procedure:
Upon arrival the following documents should be submitted to the International Office of LMU: the admission letter, the JW202 form, passport, 8 recent passport photos (3cm ¡Á 5cm) .All these documents should be handed in time in order to facilitate the registration procedure.

Educational & Accommodation Facilities
Educational conditions are excellent, with private classrooms for the overseas students. Modern computerized teaching technologies and facilities in the computer center are available for courses involved in computer-aided teaching.
The university¡¯s library has an advanced electronic reading room and has access to the retrieval system for medical documents from the American MEDLINE and the Chinese Medical Institute. At the same time, the university library provides a convenient studying environment for overseas students. The experts hotel is available in the campus for the overseas students with hotel¨Cstandard accommodation together with a dormitory especially designed for the overseas students including laundry facilities and kitchen. A wide variety of restaurants and cafeterias are located throughout the campus, with a selection of foods diverse enough to cater to many tastes. Recreational areas on campus provide for all kinds of sports and activities, such as soccer, basketball, volleyball and roller-skating. There are lots of shops satisfying the domestic needs of students.
Registration Administration
It is important that enrolled overseas students present themselves at the University for Registration at least 3 days in advance of the enrollment date prescribed in the enrollment notification. Anyone who fails to register in time may still register within one month of the enrollment date, subject to permission being granted by the university, with valid reasons being explained / accepted for non-compliance to the aforementioned 3 day rule. If Students fail to register within one month, his or her enrollment will be cancelled, with notification being given to the corresponding embassy or consulate.
Passport, enrollment notification, form JW202, a health examination report together with 8 recent passport photos (3cm ¡Á 5cm) are required for enrollment registration.All prescribed original documents must be handed in for verification by the university. The scholar registration will be obtained as soon as these items are sanctioned. Anyone regarded to be unqualified during the initial evaluation, can be accepted as a ¡°further study¡± student under certain circumstances, but will not obtain the scholar registration until he or she becomes qualified after one year of study. Anyone remaining unqualified will only graduate as a further study student.
An overseas student studying in Liaoning medical university should abide by the same rules and regulations that are followed by the Chinese student. Full course participation is expected and unexcused absences are forbidden. Students who leave the university prior to course completion, for any reason, will forfeit all charges and will not be refunded any education costs. Graduation certificate, academic degree or certificate of course completion will only be awarded to the student upon finishing the prescribed academic course.
