Jingchu University of Technology is a regular provincial public institution of higher learning for undergraduate-level students, based on the merger of Jinmen Polytechnic and ShayangTeachers College, authorized by the Ministry of Education.

As the infall for ThreeLakes and the connection point for Nine Rivers, JingmenCity is located in the central are of HubeiProvince, officially jurisdictional ruled six urban counties, has an area of 12,400 square kilometers, with the total population of 3 million. Since reform and opening up, the socioeconomic development of Jingmen has been very fast, as well as the development of the higher education. With the support and help of all levels leadership and social circles, Jinmen Polytechnic and ShayangTeachers College were merged and reformed as Jingchu University of Technology, which isapproved by Ministry of Education, established in March of 2007.

At present, Jinchu University of Technology has an enrollment of 11,000, including the full-time undergraduate students and specialized students. It has a teaching staff of 633 teachers, occupied an area of 1646.34 mou with a floorage of 582.9 thousand square meters. Besides, the colleague has the additional land of 518.74 mou for potential development. The colleague has built variety of laboratories, including the Number Control Technology, Printing Works, Oral Cavity Technology, Basic Physics, Electrical Electronics, IPv6 Network, Clinical Pathology Tests and other kinds of TrainingCenter, totally 99 laboratories. The total value of the teaching equipment is over 74.46 million yuan. There are 128 extracurricular internship Training Bases. The colleague library has built the automated management system (ILAS II) and 2 electronic literature databases, including 923 thousand volume of Paper book, 400 thousand kinds of E-books, 2,452 of published journals and 8,000 of electronic journals.

The colleague has 47 majors as specialized, covering science, engineering, education, medicine, culture and other scientific disciplines. Through the deepening educational reform and the adjustment for the major structure, the colleague actively carried out the personnel training mode of exploration and practice, formed some special majors with professional, such as NC technology, printing Graphic information processing, primary education, nursing, dentistry and so on. Besides, Writing, Higher Mathematics, Pathology, Multimedia Courseware Production, Web Design, and other five courses are awarded as the provincial excellent courses. The basic physics laboratory is assessed by the provincial qualified acceptance.

The college adhere to the principle of opening up for schools, actively expand the academic exchanges and cooperation, signed the cooperation sponsoring projects with Australia, Canada, Singapore, Malaysia, South Korea and other countries, opened up the international cooperation channel for personnel training.
