Introduction

History

LUT was originally established as Gansu Provincial Technical School in 1919, renamed Lanzhou Institute of Technology in 1958, and then Gansu University of Technology after the merger with Gansu Jiaotong University in the same year. In 1965, the university was put under the First Ministry of Machine Building, partial specialties from Northeast Institute of Heavy-duty Machinery and Beijing Institute of Mechanical Engineering incorporated into and a good number of teachers from Hefei University of Technology and Hunan University transferred to. In 1998, the university was funded and administered by the central and local government with the latter taking on more responsibility. In 2003, the university was renamed Lanzhou University of Technology. West campus was officially put into use in 2005.

Projects
1,532 scientific research projects (including six national-level projects and 60 provincial and ministerial-level projects) have been undertaken and accomplished over the recent three years.

Academic Papers
5,001 academic papers have been published over the recent three years. LUT ranks the 75th among colleges & universities across China in terms of the number of papers covered by EI, and 2,878 papers have been published in core periodicals ranking the 90th.

Patent Application and Authorization
LUT ranks the first among the colleges & universities in Gansu Province seven years successively with 252 patents applied and 99 granted over the recent three years, coming in the 60th place across China.

Science and Technology Industry
Revenue from science and technology industry ranked the 34th among colleges & universities across China in 2006.
