Confucius Institute of University of Valencia held a special lecture of <Theory of Ying and Yang> and acupuncture in 19th June of 2012. The speaker, Dr. Edward Neal, is a scholar of traditional Chinese medical science that works in the University of Portland in USA and he is the Chairman of the Association of Classic Acupuncture in the world.

He introduced that this book is an old medical book which was written by old doctors under Emperor XuanYuan's name in Spring and Autumn period (770-476 B.C). In addition, this book advocates that cure latent illness, preserving one's health and promising longevity in the form of conversation and questions. Besides, it is not only the first medical classics, the first valuable dictionary of preserving one's health in Chinese medical scope, and is an encyclopedia that research physiology, pathology, diagnostics, pharmaceuticals, principles of treatment for human being. <Theory of Ying and Yang> is separated two parts: "LING SHU" and "SU WEN". Dr.Edward Neal considered that the ideology and views is source of Traditional medical and "LING SHU" is the foundation of acupuncture. Moreover, he compares the similarities and differences concretely from the patterns of thinking and treatment's principals, etc, many points.

Make us unexpected is that Dr.Edward Neal learned traditional Chinese medical in Milan of Italia firstly. Just in 1992, he went to Harbin to learn common spoken Chinese and ancient Chinese. He didn't speak much Chinese, but spoke very natively. Besides, he wasn't afraid of ancient Chinese, we thought that it must because of his research of traditional Chinese medical documents and books.
