Since the enactment of the "Plan for Study in China" and further implementation of the strategy of "University Going Global", the number of international students in China, especially students from Africa, has increased year by year. To further strengthen the influence of Chinese higher education and to attract more international students to study in China, China Scholarship Council held the 2012 Chinese Higher Education Exhibition in Tanzania on May 29th and 30th. Delegates from 19 Chinese universities, such as Tianjin University, Beijing Institute of Technology, Capital Medical University, Harbin Engineering University and Xi'an Jiaotong University, participated in the exhibition. This was the first exhibition held by CSC exclusively in Tanzania with great support from the Tanzanian Ministry of Education and Vocational Training, and the Chinese Embassy in Tanzania. The opening ceremony of the Chinese Higher Education Exhibition was held in University of Dar es Salaam. Mr. FU Jijun, Political Counselor of Chinese Embassy in Tanzania, Mr. MULUGO, deputy director of Ministry of Education and Vocational Training of Tanzania, Mr. MGAYA, Vice-Chancellor of University of Dar es Salaam, and Mr. CAO Shihai, deputy Secretary-General of CSC, delivered speeches at the opening ceremony. During the exhibition, the students in Tanzania showed great interests in studying in China. Meanwhile, Chinese universities also better understand the higher education system in Tanzania through communication and discussion, which created an efficient platform for the exchange of higher education in China and Tanzania.

In June 6th, 2012, the Chinese Higher Education Exhibition moved to University of Nairobi, Kenya. Mr. YAN Xiusheng, charge d'affaires of Chinese Embassy in Kenya, Mr. MBITHI, Vice-Chancellor of University of Nairobi, and Mr. CAO Shihai, deputy Secretary-General of CSC, delivered speeches at the opening ceremony. The exhibition greatly improved the Kenyan students' knowledge of Chinese higher education and strengthened the mutual understanding and exchange in the field of education between the two countries.
