Confucius Institute at the Ateneo de ManilaUniversityis one of the four examination venues of Chinese Proficiency Test in the Philippines. The HSK examination is held twice a year and in the year 2012, the YCT examination was added.

In light of the fact that most examineesof the YCT this yearis from the Chinese International School Manila (CISM), the Institute's first YCT examination was held in their campus. There was a total of 84 students who registered for the exam but 4 students were absent on the test date.

May 26, the exam date, students and their parents arrived very early at the testing venue. "I'm a little nervous because it's the first time I had attended the YCT examination", said one student. They were comforted by the principal of CISM, "It doesn't matter if you won't get a good score because there will be many chances!"

Everything went smoothly even though this is the Institute's first time to conduct the YCT examination. Liu Xiao Fang, the Chinese director of the Institute;Institute coordinator Wang Ming Li, who is in charge of HSK and YCT examinations; and the teachersfrom CISM took care of the entire examination.
 
After the examination, the students commented that the examination was very interesting and easy and they would like to challenge themselves by taking a higher level next time. The parents commended the Institute for thethoroughorganization of the event. The HSK and YCT examinations were warmly welcomed because it inspires enthusiasmin learning Chinese and measures the language ability of the individual. All of the students look forward to the next HSK and YCT examinations.

In the end, the Institute and theChinese International SchoolManila reached an agreement that the Institute will provide two examinations every year, one HSK and one YCT. Both examinations will be added into the school assessment system of CISM. The Institute believes that there will be more and more students who will attend the HSK and YCT examinations through this venture and thus will greatly promote the Chinese teaching professionin the country.
