To implement the spirit of the important speech by General Secretary Hu Jintao in Tsinghua University Centenary Celebration, further promote the industry-university-research cooperation between universities and research institutes and largely increase the level of talents training in the field of Earth Sciences, with the co-guidance of the Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Land and Resources, "C2  Science and Education Strategic Alliance between CUG (China University of Geosciences) and Chinese Academy of Sciences was built on April 12, in Beijing.

More than 50 people attended the signing ceremony, such as, Ding Zhongli, vice president of Chinese Academy of Sciences, Du Yubo, deputy secretary of the Ministry of Education and vice minister, Zhang Shaonong, vice minister of the Ministry of Land and Resources, CUG leaders (Hao Xiang, Wang Yanxin, Fu Anzhou, Lai Xulong) and so on.

The signing ceremony was presided over by Hao Xiang, secretary of CUG Party Committee.

CUG president Wang Yanxin introduced the vision of "C2 Science and Education Strategic Alliance". This name is originated from the first letter of CAS (Chinese Academy of Sciences) and CUG (China University of Geology). This expression can better reflect the effect of the cooperation. 

On the ceremony, the remember units of this alliance signed the "Agreement of C2 Science and Education Strategic Alliance". On behalf of CUG, president Wang Yanxin signed his signature.

During the ceremony, some important leaders made important speech, such as, Wang Yanxin, Wu Fuyuan, Du Yubo, Zhao Shaonong, Ding Zhongli.
