Experiencing the heart of China at ECIT. East China Institute of Technology has enjoyed over 50 years of fine reputation in the academic world. Student Life
ECIT offers and encourages a wide variety of on-campus activities to promote student growth. As part of the ECIT student body, you will have opportunities to participate in many extracurricular activities of your choice including debates, speech contests, drama, and sporting events. Whether this is your first time away from home or you are a returning student, your life will certainly be rewarding and memorable. You will quickly adapt to dorm life, and your roommates will become like family. Our students are friendly and always willing to aid the newcomer.
A series of exhibitions and events are organized weekly for your participation. Lectures provided by visiting foreign educators and English Corner are just two examples where you can go to mingle and meet new people in an informal atmosphere. A movie theater and various food establishments are just a few steps away from the main gate.
For the weekends, historic Fuzhou offers a rich 2,100 year history of artifacts and famous landscapes and mountains, all easily accessible by bus. Students often take tours to nearby Mount Lu, Mount Wuyi or choose to go shopping in Nanchang. Whether you have an hour or a weekend to fill, you will find it in Fuzhou.
Multicultural Diversity
Creating a sense of community in the classroom is one goal of ECIT. We pride ourselves on the cultural diversity of our 20,000+ students. Students come from all over China, each bringing his own cultural heritage to share. This blending of culture provides the perfect balance between education and multicultural enrichment. ECIT promotes learning communities and cohort models to address diversity issues. We also have a staff of highly qualified foreign teachers from around the world, including the United States, Canada, Australia, Russia, England, South Africa, and many other countries, all of whom interact with students on a daily basis and take part in extracurricular activities. Our cultural literacy is dependent upon staff and student interaction through English Corner, weekly presentations, and other activities. At ECIT our multicultural development theory provides the basis for the practice of student development.

Faculty advisors are ready to help customize your major. We offer a wide variety of programs including double majors and many minors to choose from. You will be able to focus on areas ranging literally from A to Z—from art to zoology. Many special options are geared toward intensive, specialized research required for postgraduate school. ECIT offers the best in academia, providing you with the basic knowledge and understanding needed for advanced study. You will find yourself working in small collaborative groups and participating in real-world applications.
ECIT has the flexibility you need. We are small enough to cater to your needs, yet we offer over 1,000 programs designed with you in mind. Our faculty consists of a mixture of talented scholars all dedicated to one purpose—providing you with the best possible education, while giving you the knowledge and skills you will need in your chosen field. Many of our faculty members hold doctorate degrees or terminal degrees in their chosen fields, and they share an impressive record of publishing, presenting at national and international conferences, and performing professionally in their fields of expertise. You will be fortunate enough to share in their enthusiasm they bring to the classroom.

New facilities and equipment are being added constantly. Thanks to its facility and excellence in nuclear science, ECIT has been authorized to host training programs for the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) on an annual basis.
Technology and Equipment
ECIT prides itself in its state-of-the-art facilities for its students. All campuses are inter-connected with advanced computer networks and its high speed internet access is supported by dedicated fiber optic cables connecting offices, classrooms, and even student and teacher dormitories. Broadband wireless access is also available in many hot spots on campus making ECIT a cyber-learning center. To make learning even more convenient, ECIT has built three libraries; each campus has one of its own. All of our libraries are open to students and faculty members alike. In addition, each department has its own specialized library, housing a large collection of materials within its discipline. ECIT also has one of the largest Geological Museums in the country and a Uranium Deposits Exhibition Hall, both popular places for students to visit.
Our inter-campus network connects every dormitory room to the library, faculty and staff offices, and to the Internet. Bring your own computer or use one of the over 1,500 student-access computers in nearly twenty labs and other locations across campus. ECIT student have free access to the Internet, cable television, voice mail, e-mail accounts and space for personal web pages. ECIT faculty use new information technologies to help you learn how to find, manage, and apply information. Interactive classroom applications include electronic discussion groups, scientific modeling, foreign language chat rooms, and an online journal.
All departments have the basic teaching equipment which would be expected of all major Chinese universities. There is a wide range of research equipment in more than 10 research centers, including a scanning electron microscope equipped with an electron probe and micro-analyzer system, mass spectrometers, atomic lasers, and radioactive
tracer instrumentation, etc.
