China Youth University for Political Sciences (CYUPS), a regular institution of higher learning subordinated to the All-China Youth Federation, was established in December of 1985 on the basis of the Central School of China Communist Youth League. The University, located traffic-conveniently in the Haidian District of Beijing and neighbored by many prestigious universities, covers an area of 12 hectors with a construction area of 110,000 square meters. It is also among the first batch of universities entitled as Culturally Civilized Campus by Beijing authority, and it has won, Culturally Civilized Institution in the Capital, for five consecutive years. CYUPS, with its students from the whole country, aims at fostering youthful professionals with the capacity for modern management and familiarity with the youth organization. The Central School of China Communist Youth League takes responsibility of training senior Youth League staff. The chairman of All-China Youth Federation holds the post of the university president.

The University includes regular higher education institutions and adult education institutions. The regular higher education institutions include the Youth Work Department, Department of Social Work and Management, Department of Law, Department of Economics, Department of Journalism and Mass Media, Department of English Language, Department of Chinese Literature, Department of Social Sciences, Department of Culture Foundation, Center of Teaching and Application of Computer Sciences, Center of Physical Education and School of Professional Education.. The university also operates some other academic institutes such as Research Institute of Youth Psychology, Research Institute of Youth Policy. The university maintains cooperative relations with many universities, colleges and research institutes nationwide and abroad. The university has around 4,000 full-time students and over 400 staff members.

The Chinese Language Education Center for Foreigners under CYUPS makes an elite place for Chinese language learning with excellent language learning environment and flexible course arrangements. The Center offers great conveniences for foreign learners in their pursuit of mastering the language and experiencing Chinese culture. Besides class-learning sessions, the Center also organizes various cultural tours and field studies for the students. Thus they are able to make remarkable progress in language learning and largely enhance practical skills while enjoy their time by being fully immersed in Chinese Culture.
