One Hundred Year Old Jinglu: Delicacies with Beijing Style

The mild and attractive Beijing style culture in Gulou (the drum tower) enables it to attract a large number of gourmets in Beijing. Though it has not been open for long, the One Hundred Year Old Jinglu located on Zhongzhou Road opposite the Workers' Daily office attracts many return customers to patronize frequently thanks to its dining environment with typically Beijing style, its authentic Jinglu dishes and its favorable price.

One may miss the sign for "One Hundred Year Old Jinglu" whilst walking the broad Zhongzhou Road; it is hidden in the shade of trees on both sides. Slowly walking into the hall on the first floor, one can see expressions of typical old Beijing styles and current popular elements all around. The hollowed division in the shape of Wanshou symbol, the blue and white porcelain tableware with white background and blue patterns, the exquisite silver bead curtains and the elegant Western style seats. When one is enchanted by such pleasant environs, his thoughts are suddenly distracted by a strong and fresh fragrance. Searching for the fragrance, the "Sun Roast Duck with Vegetable Fragrance" preserved in a sauce made of the mixture of a variety of vegetables with a tantalizing smell is served on the table. Many gourmets jokingly call it "the other Beijing duck"; its charms are obvious.

In addition to roast duct, the Stewed Pork Intestine with Sweet Garlic captures the stomachs of a great number of "old Beijing men". The dish integrates the tastes of sweet garlic and that of pork intestine. A lingering taste will play on your lips and teeth having taken a bite. The "Spicy Beef Balls" is an original dish with a combination of Chinese and Western elements. The skin is slightly burnt and crispy while the beef inside is fresh, soft and juicy. The salty and slightly spicy taste makes it one of the most popular delicacies of the restaurant. In addition, there are also the wonderful "high pressure" dish series and the snacks including walnut cream, Guiling Jelly and red bean cake etc. The restaurant has more than 100 kinds of classical Jinglu gourmet foods; the sheer choice of food makes guests dizzy. In addition to Jinglu dishes, the restaurant also provides some excellent Sichuan dishes and Yunnan dishes for further choice.
