Founded in 1954, Chongqing Normal University (hereafter as “CNU”) is one of the earliest higher teachers training institutions after the founding of P. R. China. It is designated as the only “Chinese Language Education Center for Overseas Chinese” in west China by the Office for Overseas Chinese Affairs of the State Council of P.R.China, the only “Key National Vocational Teachers Training Center” in Chongqing and “ Information Technology and Applied Distance Education Center” by the Ministry of Education of China. After 50 years’ development, CNU has developed into a comprehensive higher institution focusing on teachers’ training and made great contribution to the development of economy and society of Chongqing, even of West China. CNU covers an area of over 220 hectares. It is a few minutes walk to banks, supermarkets, hotels, train station, post office and so on. CNU has a staff of nearly 1600, among them there are over 500 professors and associate-professors. It has 23 colleges and departments, 28 master degree programs, 40 full time undergraduate programs, which include 9 subjects such as literature, history, philosophy, science, engineering, etc. Currently, there are over 30,000 full-time students.
