Introduction of the International Students Program of the International Department of BNDS

The International Department was established in June, 2004 under the guidance of the strategy of internationalization development of Beijing National Day School (BNDS). Thanks to all the efforts from different sides, BNDS was authorized to enroll foreign students by Beijing Municipal Education Committee and other relative departments. August of 2006 marked a milestone for the department for it met their first batch of International students. BNDS was approved by China National Office for Teaching Chinese as a Foreign Language (Hanban for short) to set up a national-level test location of HSK in July of 2007 and became the head member of Beijing Foreign Students Education Management Association in September of 2010.

The International students program aims to cultivate first class talents with Chinese spirit, world perspective and multi-cultural understanding. Now we begin to recruit Chinese language training and degree students abroad and from Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan districts all the year around. The main courses are:

·Chinese Language related courses: Basic Chinese, Chinese Conversation, Chinese Listening, Chinese Writing, Chinese Proficiency Test(HSK) Instruction, Chinese Society Practice course, English and so on.

·Degree Courses: Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Geography, History etc.

·Selective Course: Photography, Swimming, Arts, Technology, Horsemanship, Spanish and other selective course offered for Chinese students.

Through five years’ development, over two hundred students from 12 countries and regions have taken part in Chinese language and culture education or degree programs in the program, many of whom have been admitted to China prestigious universities such as Peking University, Tsinghua University, University, Renmin University of China and so on. On August 12th, 2011, Dina, one of our former students from Serbia,, sang the theme song entitled “Start Here,” at the opening ceremony of the 26th World Summer Universiade.

The program boasts an excellent faculty. They are a team with magnificent virtue, masterful skills and full of innovation and practice. Among them some are special-grade, senior teachers or outstanding leading ones with many years of teaching experiences. They are top and excellent teachers who endeavor to fully consider the interest of students and create most enjoyable classes for students.

Over 5 years, with more increasingly matured course system of the program and the expanded number of faculty, our student have continuously made headway in their academic performance. In the coming years, the International Department will try even harder to provide international students with more comfortable educational and living environment, as well as education service with higher quality. About Courses

Brief introduction

According to the applicant’s Chinese standard, he or she will be put into the Beginners Chinese Class, Medium Chinese Class or Advanced Chinese Class. The learning period for each class is between 4 to 6 months.
For students whose Chinese reaches certain level, they can be transferred to an appropriate class of Chinese students after application.
For students who want to further their study in Chinese colleges, the International Department will open special courses to prepare them for entrance exam to Chinese colleges from the second term of Grade 11.

Language: English, English Grammar, Comprehensive Chinese, Chinese Conversation, Chinese Listening, Chinese Writing, Chinese HSK Training Courses, Chinese Culture Experience and etc.
Other Courses: Math, Chemistry, Physics, Science, Chinese Background, Chinese Traditional Culture, Arts, Physical Exercises, Music, Information Technology and etc.

Optional Courses: Photography, Swimming, Calligraphy, Fencing, American Football, Cook, knitting and all the optional courses for the Chinese students in the school.

Procedures for Applications

Prepare and submit the following application documents (Documents 1-10 are compulsory; and all photocopies of documents should be prepared in A4 Paper)

4	Original statement about the applicant’s in school or transferring to another school	Which are not compulsory for Junior Three students
5	Transcripts for the past 3 years offered by the applicant’s former schools	Transcript should be in Chinese or English, and the school seals are required on transcripts
6	12 recent certificate photos of the applicant without hats, including 6 color of 1 inch size and 6 color f 2 inch size	The ground color should be white or light blue
7	Valid certificates belonging to the student's guardian in Beijing	Valid certificates should be identification certificates or passports
8	Photocopies of the passports or other identification certificates belonging to the student's parents
9	Temporary Residence Certificate by the Chinese local police station.	This item only applies to day students.
10	Application Fee: 400 RMB	This fee are not returned after enrollment
11	School Behavior Booklet by former schools	School seals are required
12	Photocopies of the applicant’s HSK certificates	Applied to those who have attend HSK

Take the interview and the 3-subject entrance tests for Chinese, English and Math. For beginners in Chinese, the Chinese test is not included.
After considering the applicant’s situation, the International Department will put the applicant in the proper class and give the matriculation notice.
According the information on the matriculation notice, the applicant comes to school and finishes registration and payment of tuition.

Other Information

Accommodation.
Each twin-room is equipped with: independent washroom, refrigerator, washing machine, air- condition, etc; room teachers take turn on duty for 24 hours.
Physical examination
Applicants above 18 years old should take physical examination and put in the certificate. The school will arrange other ones' examination altogether after their entrance.
Ask the admission office of international department for the charge of fee.
