Fu Xiaoshi was born in Xinyu, Jiangxi province. The eldest son of master Chinese ink painter Fu Baoshi (1904-65). Fu Xiaoshi graduated with distinction from the Department of Printmaking at the Central Academy of Fine Arts in 1958.

Since the late 1980s, Fu has held his solo exhibitions in Singapore, Japan, Australia, the United Sates and in major cities on the Chinese mainland as well as Hong Kong and Macao SARs and Taiwan province .

Some of his best ink paintings are in the collection of such prestigious art museums at home and abroad as the National Art Museum of China and Shanghai Museum of Fine Arts.

A disabled artist, Fu shows a strong commitment to the underprivileged and has donated over 20 of his huge painting scrolls to charitable foundations in China since 1980s.
